Our Rates

Our maintenance rates are based off cumulative volume of all tanks being managed in your business. If you are interested in setting up three separate 20 gallon tanks across different rooms in your establishment, that would put you in the 41 gal. - 90 gal. pricing bracket since it would be a whole of 60 gallons. Some methods of filtration add to the water volume of the tank; for such special cases, prices may vary.

The first step on the way to having a Bea’s Buckets managed aquarium is scheduling a free, in-person consultation with us! You can send us an email to schedule a consultation with us at beatrice_o@beasbuckets.com or you can call/text us at (503) 487-2645.

5 gallons - 40 gallons -- $17 per hour

41 gallons - 90 gallons -- $20 per hour

91 gallons - 200 gallons -- $23 per hour

201 gallons or over -- To be discussed in a free consultation

Our expected payment schedule is every two months, so you will be billed for our hourly rates at the end of Feb, April, June, Aug, Oct, and Dec. Our preferred payment method is via paper check, but payment method can be discussed in our free consultation if paper checks are not an option for your business.

Setup Price Info

There are many factors to how we can set up an aquarium for your establishment when it comes to size, decor, tech levels, display, and more. To streamline this as much as possible, we have put together packages that you can mix and match to fit your desired budget. We still require an in-person, free consultation before anything is officially settled on so that we are able to discus what our options will practically look like in your business. Aquariums outside of the sizes outlined in our setup bundles are also available. These are just the most common and most popular sizes, so we only have calculated premade pricing for these standard sizes.

  • 75 gallon tanks are where we get to start seeing more feature fish being comfortable. We have the option of an oscar in a tank this large, which is one the most personable types of fish. We also will not allow goldfish in anything smaller than a 75 gallon, so if you are dreaming of goldfish, this is the base level that you should be looking at. This is also our recommended size if you are interested in the more unique tropical catfish.

  • At the 120 Gallon level, we start getting into oddball fish. Large schools of tetras, barbs, or rasboras are excellent options, but with this large scale, we have the ability to keep ropefish, freshwater pufferfish, and even some types of eels or bichirs! The more extravagant the fish, the higher the maintenance level, but pet fish like puffers can be well worth it.

The cost of fish and food are not included in these estimates because there is such a variety in options, and each kind of fish will have requirements for their food. Critters for your tank and their food will be bought together and will be paid for by your company with direct reimbursement after purchase.

There is also the factor of what surface your tank will be on to consider. We generally have options for stands made especially for whichever size tank you are setting up, but you can also often times find furniture or spaces on counters for a tank depending on the size and location within your business. Because we have so many options on how to handle placement, we do not have it included in our quotes.

Cost of electricity should be considered as part of the investment into an aquarium in your business. Fish tanks will have at minimum, three devices plugged in using electricity either full time or during your business hours. The larger the tank, the more tech and stronger tech it will require.

We would also like to bring up the fact that aquariums are very heavy when filled with water, which means we will need to be thoughtful of your building structure when choosing their location. We do not recommend having a tank larger than 55 gallons on the second floor of a building because of the weight issue.

As one can expect, the setup process is the most expensive part of keeping a tank in your business. On top of the purchase of your setup, our labor will be much more extensive in the beginning. During the setup of the tank, we will likely average close to 5-7 hours of labor a week; but you can expect that to start decreasing after about three months until we reach our average of about 1 hour or less each week.

FAQs

Why does tank size change my rate?

It seems like a larger tank would just take more time, so why charge a higher rate?

The biggest reasons are our supplies and our expertise. Aquarium care takes many specialized tools and chemicals. When we are working with a larger volume of water, we use a larger amount of chemicals such as dechlorinator and fertilizer. This makes our cost higher to maintain larger volume tanks. Larger tanks also require larger tools to care for them, which also needs to be taken into account in our cost. In actuality, these larger tools also help to even out the time taken to maintain these larger tanks. This means that with our knowledge and expertise, as well as the larger, more costly tools, we are able to service your tank in a shorter time, helping to even out the amount you can expect to pay each month!

Can you do saltwater aquariums?

Unfortunately, not yet. It is our goal to tackle that particular beast someday, but currently, our team lacks the experience to run commercial saltwater tanks. We do have ways to make our freshwater tanks look a little bit more like a saltwater aquarium with lighting and decorations, but the chemical balancing of a saltwater system is not in the cards for us currently.

What areas do you provide your services to?

We are currently based in Newberg, Oregon, and most of our clients are within Yamhill County at the moment. We are open to discussing our services with any businesses within the Willamette Valley!

Do you charge a fee for travel costs?

As all of our current clients are within a half hour drive of our base of operations, no. If our reach begins growing significantly, we will need to consider adding a gas fee; but it is not something we have planned. For new clients outside of our current route, it would be discussed in our consultation.

What kinds of businesses can benefit from your services?

We have not found a business yet that would not be enhanced by an aquarium! Our favorite types of business to serve include but are not limited to: corporate offices, churches, libraries, restaurants, banks, car dealerships, therapists’ offices, repair shops, boutiques, veterinary clinics, hair and nail salons, dentists’ offices, hotels, retirement homes, classrooms, lobbies, jewelers, memory care facilities, tattoo and piercing parlors, wine bars, and medical offices.

Are you willing to take on more already established tanks?

Yes! But…

With our extensive knowledge in the aquarium industry, it is important that we have freedom to change what needs to be changed for the health of the tank when we start managing an established aquarium. This can mean anything from slight tech adjustments like a new light or stronger heater, to needing to rehome fish that are not safe to keep with each other. In situations like that, we will enter with an open mind, and we will prioritize matching your vision for the tank as much as we are able while keeping the health of the aquarium at the forefront.

We are ready whenever you are!
